You know how they say tomorrow isn’t promised to any one of us. As dim as that sounds, it is true. So instead of wasting away your days in negativity and the things that you cannot change. It is better to make the most of your days. Here are 3 ways to make the most of every day.
- DO THE MOST PRESSING THING FIRST.
If you want to make the most of your day. The first thing that you need prioritise is what I like to call the ‘pressing thing’. Okay, so this gives me an easy path to a great analogy. You know when you are pressing to use the toilet. No matter how much you try and forget, trust me when I say. It will always remain in your mind and body that you need to use the toilet. Not my best example, I know, but just imagine the last time you desperately needed the toilet. How frustrating was the feeling of needing to do something but not being able to at that moment.
Well, the same thing applies to doing the most ‘pressing thing’ first, sortaa. I imagine that you have an assignment due in soon, don’t ask me how I know, I just know. I also know that you haven’t started planning for that assignment and you keep pushing it back. The issue with this is that there’s a running tape at the back of your head. This running tape says you need to start that assignment sooon or else you will end up doing it the night before. So, as you are out with your friends or watching a Netflix show. There is always a thought remains that you need to start the assignment.
This can apply to different things for different people. For some of you it may be completing your work deadlines, rescheduling that meeting with a friend, calling your grandmother. Whatever thought runs like a tape at the back of your head is what I call the ‘pressing thought’ that needs to be dealt with urgently because when you do, a heavy burden lifts. I think we are all accustomed by now to that feeling of relief when you do something that you have been procrastinating. To make the most of every day, start by prioritising your most important or pressing needs. This will help settle your mind when you start to do the important things that you shove at the back of the wardrobe. Bring them out, start sorting through them and see how your day starts to change for the best.
2. Wake up Early
This point ties in very well with my previous of doing the most pressing thing first. I have learnt by now, that on the days that I intend on being most productive with my day. I have to wake up early, so that I can get started with some of the things that I want to achieve. The more you push things to ‘later’ on, the more probable it becomes for you to not start at all. There is something about the afternoon for me that makes me procrastinate, though I tend to work well under pressure at night. It isn’t ideal to start things in the evening as this can compromise your sleep. So, start waking up in the morning to get things done. You will find that this will help to free up your day more.
3. Get Active
If you are familiar with this blog then you know, that I will reference the NHS recommendation for exercise which is 150 minutes a week. You will be surprised at how little exercise many of us do. There are different ways that you can get active, ranging from walking to work, running, cycling, or skipping rope. For those that can afford too, alternative options are going to the gym and getting a personal trainer if you have specific goals. The main goal should be to improve your overall fitness by exercising more.
O’L Takeaway
This is by no means a comprehensive list of things that you can do to make the most of your day. I complied these 3 things as I have found that they can often be the most important components of your day. So, to make the most of your day, try to incorporate daily exercise, doing the most ‘pressing’ thing first, and getting up early.
