The benefits of decluttering are many, ranging from productivity, improved organisation, and an increased sense of well-being. This is why it is important to de-clutter the space you live in. So, set aside some time and start decluttering it will do wonders for your well-being.
2. Exercise More
Exercising or moving every day is essential for your physical and mental well-being. Being physically active can help improve brain health, reduce the risk of disease, and strengthen bones and muscles.
There are many other ways to move your body. This can vary from taking regular walks, doing housework, indoor and outdoor cycling, commuting to work, etc. Instead of driving to work, if your workplace is at a walk-able distance, you can opt for that instead. Whichever way you choose to move your body, the aim is to get moving more.
3. Read
Reading is important for several reasons such as increasing quality of sleep, improving stress, and helping with our mental health. People often overlook the benefits of reading especially when they get older. There is also this notion that reading is for a certain type of ‘person’, which is certainly not true. Reading is for everyone; we all need to read.
If you are looking for a new read, here are some of my recommendations.
4. Make Home Cooked Meals.
There are many benefits to making home-cooked meals. Firstly, making food at home is way more cost-efficient than takeaways. The amount of money people spend on takeaways is incredible. The money you spend on one takeaway could be enough to buy ingredients for a meal plan.
I know you are probably rolling your eyes, thinking about the convenience of ordering a takeaway. So, I suggest treating yourself to takeaways on specific days during the week. This way, you can still enjoy a good ole takeout, but also eat meals at home.
Cooking at home does not have to be complicated, the idea is to replace processed food with whole foods. Additionally, try to eat more vegetables and healthy protein sources.
5. Connect with Family and Friends
Maintaining relationships with your close friends and family is very important for your overall well-being. It is so easy to disconnect from your loved ones, albeit, seeing them in real life, texting or calling them. But, remember that we are social beings, so we need social connection with our loved ones.
What is essential, however, is maintaining these relationships in real life. Try to plan to meet your friends and family members monthly if possible.
