The weather is changing and for the most part this may mean that your skin may experience some changes. Your skin can become more dry during the winter. So this may mean that you need to update your skincare for the fall.
There are many reasons why your skin may change during the fall/Autumn. The cold weather contributes to this. With the weather being cooler mixed with humidity. It’s a recipe for disaster!. Central heating is one of the reasons why your skin will dry up. This may cause skin issues such as eczema and itchy skin. So it is essential that you add a moisturiser to your skin care routine.
To get rid of dry skin you need to invest in rich moisturizers as part of your skin care. You have to switch from your light creams to more rich creams. You have to invest in the right creams. Let’s discuss 6 Skincare tips for fall.
Best Moisturizers
- Eucerin- UreaRepair Plus Lotion
So, this lotion is more on the expensive side, but it has definitely been the reason for my dry skin relief. The lotion gently exfoliates and smoothens the skin, with a promise of 48h dry skin relief. I have many creams and lotions to help heal my dry skin. But recently I have focused more on using this lotion, my skin looks more alive and when I wake up it is not dry.
- Cetraben Cream, Aveeno Skin Relief.
This is my favourite part of my skin care routine. Moisturise moisturise and oh, Moisturise. This is another moisturiser that I use. Cetraben Cream perfect for relieving dry skin and eczema symptoms such red, itchy, chapped or inflamed skin. The second moisturiser that i use is Aveeno Skin Relief which caters specifically for dry skin by helping to restore the skin’s natural protective barrier.
The Aveeno Skin relief is a perfect bedside cream for me. What I simply mean by this is that I keep mine on my bedside. This reminds me to moisturise my skin during day or evening. I find that this necessary especially when my skin is really damaged.
Do not forget to moisturise your body as well. I know that some people just have a Bath of shower and skip the moisturising stage. But you need to make sure that you are moisturising your whole body. Moisturizing your body will soften and smooth your skin, reduce dryness (of course) and support skin barrier,
- Oil based Cleansers
The ordinary: Squalene Cleanser,
Oil based cleansers are recommended during the winter period. But you need to look for an oil based cleanser that removes impurities and does not strip away your natural oils. However make sure that you test it out before using it. I know that for some people oil based cleansers are not ideal. So make sure to find the best suited for your skin.
- SPF Sunscreen
What is the point of skincare if you are not using sunscreen. I will tell you now, there is absolutely no point. You are wasting time if you are not using sunscreen. If I could go back to my younger self, I would start wearing sunscreen religiously because it is the game changer. The main difference to my skin now is sunscreen. The results that I have achieved, I can completely 100% without a shadow of doubt credited to using sunscreen consistently.
It might be cloudy and cold outside but you need to apply sunscreen to your face. It’s good practice to wear sunscreen in and out of season. This is especially a good idea if are using strong Retinols or exfoliate in winter. So make sure to apply sunscreen at list a minimum of SPF 15.
- Vaseline.
When I was younger, this is a product that I used a lot. Let me tell you my skin was amazing. For some reason this changed when I grew up. But now I’ve rekindled that love with Vaseline again. This is because there are many ways that you can use Vaseline, and you need it for your skin care routine.
Vaseline is perfect for a lot of things. You can use it for your lips. If your lips get chapped a lot, instead of investing in products that actually have harmful ingredients. Use Vaseline.
You can also use Vaseline in your evening routine. Place it around your eyes, corners of your mouth and nose.
- Sleep
Every skin care routine needs a good night sleep. So make sure that you are getting enough sleep if you want that good skin. A study found that people who slept 7-9 hours a night had skin that was moisturized.
It is important that you get enough sleep as part of wellbeing and skin health. When we don’t sleep enough the stress hormone (cortisol) is released in your body. So make sure that you are getting enough sleep this season.
That concludes my 6 Skincare tips for fall. It is not necessary to add too many products or remove many. If you have found a skin care routine that works for you, stick to it. You’ll find that you juts need to make a few additions and adjustments.
