1. Read a Book or Journal at a Local Coffee Shop
Coffee shops are the epicentre of cosy and comfort. There is no better solo autumn activity than going to a coffee shop to read a book or journal. The key, however, is making sure to find a coffee shop with a cosy aesthetic that does not have extortionate beverage prices.
If you are looking for autumn-themed books to read, I made this list of my favourite Fall Classics.
2. Explore Old Book Shops
The other day I went to explore old bookshops local to me, and I was pleasantly surprised. As a book lover, I thoroughly enjoyed finding different and affordable copies of my favourite books. It is for that reason that I find exploring old bookshops the perfect solo activity to do this autumn.
3. Create Autumn Scrapbook
Another way that you can romanticise your life this fall is by creating a scrapbook. Scrap booking is a way of preserving, presenting, and arranging personal and family history. Alternatively, a scrapbook can be a way in which you capture all your favourite moments on paper.
There’s no perfect way to romanticising your life this autumn than accumulating together all your favourite moments through scrapbooks.
4. Bake an Autumn Dessert
There’s no better time to get into the mood of autumn, than making a seasonal dessert. I am not much of a baker, but I love attempting to bake new recipes. Some ideas for autumn desserts are apple or pumpkin pies, cinnamon rolls, or apple cider doughnuts.
5. Watch a Fall Movie or Show
Fall movies are perfect if you want to cosy up with a cup of tea and get into the mood for the season. This season is when the best movies come to theatres and cinemas. My favourite movies to watch this season are usually set in autumnal landscapes like Little Women (2019) or When Harry Met Sally (1989).
If you are looking for the perfect fall programme, you have to watch Gilmore Girls (2000). This drama is centred around the relationship between a thirty-something mother and her sixteen-year-old daughter living in Stars Hallows. I can’t tell you how many times I have watched this show, but I can attest to the fact it is the perfect show to watch this Fall.
6. Go for a Fall Shopping Trip.
One of my favourite things to do in Autumn is go shopping. There are many places to get fall decorations, my personal favourite is thrifting for unique antique pieces. Alternatively, you can shop for decorations like faux flowers, throws, and autumnal glass light-ups.
7. Visit a museum or Art Gallery
I believe one of the ways to truly enjoy a museum or art gallery is to go by yourself. So if you are bored at home alone, why not go and visit a museum and art gallery? My favourite thing to do is visit art galleries, I enjoy looking at and appreciating art from different periods.
Remember that there are free museums that you can visit!
