If you are looking to have the best time of your life this summer, then you are in the right place. In this post, I want to share some of my favourite and affordable European countries to visit summer 2024.
The romanticism of a ‘European summer’ has been ever-growing on social media. This list comprises the places that I have personally visited and found to be affordable.
So, let’s get into it
Spain- Mallorca
To me, Mallorca is one of the most amazing places to visit in the summer. Mallorca was filled with gorgeous architecture, breathtaking beaches, and delicious food. Most people travel to Mallorca for the beaches and rightfully so. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe are in Mallorca.
Things to do in Mallorca
The first thing I did when I did in Mallorca was visit the capital city, Palma. Here you get the chance to see the beautiful architecture, go shopping and see famous churches.
The Beaches
There are many beaches in Mallorca to enjoy. However, to be able to reach most of them a car is necessary. You can use public transport like buses but you need to be meticulous with timing.
Some of the best beaches in Mallorca are:
Cala Deia, Deia
This rocky cove is evidence of a worthy rival to the stunning stone village of Deia. You can reach it by car, parking can be tricky in high seasons. Alternatively, you can enjoy a walk stroll through the village.
Calo Des Moro
Cala Des Moro is considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. It is famous for its bright turquoise water, soft white sand, and high cliffs that surround it. There is a restricted entrance to the beach so make sure to be extremely safe when getting to it.
Greece- Kefalonia
Almost any place in Greece is without a doubt worth visiting. Greece is characterised by its picturesque islands surrounded by beautiful waters. The beaches in Greece are considered to be some of the best in Europe. However, most people often overlook this little island in Greece called Cephalonia. The island is marked by its sandy coves and dry rugged landscapes.
There are a few things that captivated me in Kefalonia. The first thing was the exotic . beaches which were my favourite part of the trip. Secondly, the affordability of food and accommodation made the trip. We had delicious meals at such an affordable price, which made the holiday worth it.
I would characterise Kefalonia as a family holiday destination. My favourite activity was visiting the Melissani underground lake and Drogoti Caves.
Cons
- Getting around the Island can be very difficult. Transportation (buses) is quite limited, so you need to keep up-to-date with the bus times.
- The Queues at tourist attractions can be very long, so bring water, wear SPF, and bring umbrellas to shade you from the sun.
Poland- Krakow
Krakow is a beautiful city in Poland, known for its architectural magnificence. The architecture is a mixture of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque churches, cobbled squares, and towers.
At the heart of Krakow is the main square or Rynek Glowny. It is Europe’s biggest market square with many things to see and do.
My friends and I enjoyed delicious cuisines for prices that are double the cost in London. So, if you are on a budget, and want to visit a city with a rich history and many things to do. Make sure to visit Krakow.
Bydgoszcz
Bydgoszcz is a place that is worth visiting. I am biased when it comes to this city as its distinctive charm sold me over. I felt so unbelievably connected to it.This city will appeal to inquisitive travellers that want to see old sights and churches.
One thing I can guarantee you is that you will have the best food ever and it won’t even hurt your pockets.
If you are looking for something relaxed, this is the place to be.
O’L Final Thoughts
These are the places I’ve visited in Europe that I found to be affordable and amazing to visit. I hope you have a great time on your vacation. Remember to prioritise safety at all times when travelling to places you’ve never been.
