Books to Read if Reading is Your Personality

If you are anything like me, then you probably see reading as your personality. If you are looking for a new book to make your personality, look no further. Here are my mixed-genre book recommendations to read and obsess over.

Babel by R.F Kuang

Books to Read if Reading is Your Personality

Babel is a historical fantasy novel that follows a Chinese boy, Robin Swift, who’s taken from the slums of Canton in 1828 by Oxford professor Richard Lovell to prepare for eventual study at the fictional Royal Institute of Translation at Oxford University, otherwise known as Babel.

If you love dark academia this is the book for you to read this fall. My favourite aspect of this book was the in-depth knowledge of different languages. Kuang clearly did her research, as seen through the historical details littered in the story.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein,a Swiss student of natural science who creates an artificial man from pieces of corpses and brings his creature to life. The story of explores themes of life, death, and man versus nature.

After reading this book, I went down the rabbit hole of learning everything about Mary Shelley and her husband Percy Shelley. I made my reading of this book my personally for a few months, and to this day i still think about this book.

Ray Bradbury ‘Fahrenheit 451’, 1953

Fahrenheit 451 takes place in an unspecified city in a distant future. The story follows protagonist Guy Montag and his transformation from a book-burning fireman to a book-reading rebel.

Montag lives in an oppressive society that attempts to eliminate all sources of complexity, contradiction, and confusion to ensure uncomplicated happiness for all its citizens.

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.

The Picture of Dorian Gray a young, beautiful man who trades his soul for eternal youth, then descends further and further into a moral abyss — until he discovers there is, after all, a price to pay for his actions.

One of my first classics, which left me in awe due to the brilliance of Oscar Wilde’s writing. A must read classic

All Rhodes Lead Here by Mariana Zapata

Books to Read if Reading is Your Personality

Aurora De La Torre knows moving back to a place that was once home isn’t going to be easy. Starting your whole life over probably isn’t supposed to be. But a small town in the mountains might be the perfect remedy for a broken heart.”

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez

Favourite MMC… if you know, you know.

“Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already trouble. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game . . . by sending Briana a letter.”

This is without a doubt one of my favourite Abby Jimenez books. I loved it so much, that I annotated my copy and gifted to a friend who I knew would love it too. The characters were so relatable, that reading the book became a joy.

Happy Reading
