I visited Lake Como and wrote a post detailing how to get there and where to stay. This post is going to be different. I want to talk about my time exploring Brunate in Como. It was a beautiful time of exploring this little village with its rich history and culture.
Exploring Como
I travelled to Lake Como with my friend and one of the days, I took the Brunate Funicular to go up the mountains and do some exploring. I have to preface this by saying that, I had no prior plans to visit the mountain (due to poor research) on my part. However, I was absolutely fascinated by the mountainous views I saw everyday, so visiting there was bound to happen.

How to get to Brunate
To get to Brunate Village you go with the historic single-track rail line which is one of the most scenic in Italy, running up and down the steep mountain slope between the lakeside city of Como and the village of Brunate since 1894. The 7-minute ride features gorgeous views over Italy’s Lake Como and across the scenic countryside to the Swiss Alps on the horizon.
Exploring Brunate, Como.
I visited Brunate a small village situated on a wooded plateau above Como. There are many different things that fascinated me about this village.I found myself appreciating the beauty of nature and the views. But also, there was something about visiting this small village that made me see how different people experienced life.
The best thing about travelling for me, is being able to soak up everything around you and live in the moment. I can attest to this feeling. It was wonderful exploring Brunate and I want to share my top 3 moments in this small village.
1. Views of Como: Faro Voltiano
There are many gorgeous views of the entire western alps, Po Valley, and Appenines. Coming from someone who had no expectations on what I’d see, my mind was absolutely blown away by the views. I captured a view shots, that don’t even do the view justice.
2. Beautiful architecture on the mountains
Maybe, where you come from seeing houses, villas, and restaurants on a mountain is a normal thing. For me, it wasn’t. I was absolutely taken by the beautiful architecture of these different buildings.
3. Beautiful Churches
One of my favourite things to do when I travel is photographing different churches and cathedrals. It is an absolute necessity that i do this, because I’ve decided that it’s just my thing. So, naturally, I got to see some beautiful churches in Brunate.
O’L Final Thoughts
Brunate is a beautiful small village with rich history and culture. My favourite thing about this trip was being to appreciate beautiful architecture and sceneries. I definitely recommend exploring this village.
