For my birthday I wanted to do something extravagant and exciting. So naturally, I booked a trip to New York City with my close friends to celebrate my special day. Turning 25 is a big one for me, so I wanted to go all out. In this blog post I will discuss how to book a trip to New York City.
First things first, let’s talk about the elephant in the room which is the expense of New York City. Yes, you have heard it before and you will hear it again today. New York City is unfortunately expensive. However it is possible to experience the city in its glory, on a budget. That’s exactly what my friends and I did. Let me tell you, we enjoyed our time in the big apple. In this blog post I will discuss how to book a trip to New York City.
Hotel and Flights.
We booked our hotel and flights through Love Holiday website. The deal that we went for was perfect, for 3 adults the flights and hotels cost us £1,803.53. We paid £601 each, this was a good price because we went for 6 nights. I don’t know about you, but I think we strike a bargain with this deal. I’m sure you can get a better deal, just make sure to book your trip to New York City in advance.
Flights
The flights were booked with Jet Blue, and we had an amazing experience on this flight. The food was good, and we had complimentary drinks throughout our 8 hour flight from London Heathrow. Oh and of course, there was WiFi on the flight. I think most of us we’re pleasantly surprised at the fact that the Wifi actually worked.
Hotel
As for the hotel, we went with Hilton Garden Inn in New York Long Island. We got one room, and shared it. If you are looking for something more luxurious then, of course this won’t be the best option for you. But, if you are looking for something comfortable, in an ideal location, and well offers a great service. This hotel is something you should go for. The hotel is also conveniently located 1 minute away from the subway ‘Queens Plaza’ subway. It was really easy to get to many locations. So yes, this was a great benefit.
Let’s talk Cash and budget to NYC.
I know that many of you are probably wondering how much I took to New York City for 6 nights. I was on a tight budget so I ended up spending £600 in total. This money was for activities, food and all other expenses. Oh, yes, the other expenses included my birthday dinner.
How did I break down my spending budget.
If you are going to NYC on a budget, rest assured that there are many food places that you can find on the cheaper side. My friends and I ate enough pizza for the year.
There were many other options, in terms of food choices but somehow those giant slices of pizza are what appealed to us the most. If you are wondering, absolutely yes, we went to Joe’s Pizza and it was worth the hype.
I can’t say that this was a ‘foodie’ trip for us, as we prioritized other things. What I mean by this, is that we were not looking to try different restaurants and cuisines. We were more on the side of just wanting to eat and being satisfied, so we can see the Statue of Liberty in time. This is one reason why we didn’t end up spending a lot of money on food.
To sum up.
- New York City is expensive but possible on a Budget.
- I spent £1200 in total, this included flights, hotel, food and activities.
- Look for cheap hotel and flights deal on Loveholidays. There are other third party holiday booking websites you can use. But this is the one that got us this amazing deal
- The hotel name was : Hilton Garden Inn in New York Long Island.
- Joe’s pizza is worth the hype.
My birthday in New York City is going to be a 3 part series, so make sure to check it out. There is so much that happened, that I can’t possibly cover it all in one post. If are interested in the things that I did in New York City read this blog post.
