Acne is a common skin condition that affects most people at some point. It causes spots, oily skin and sometimes skin that’s hot or painful to touch. The treatment of acne can depend on the severity of it. If your acne is moderate or severe NHS recommends seeing your GP for a prescription that can work best for you.
In this post I will discuss how to treat mild acne cases. Remember that treating acne can be a process that takes months before you see improvement. Also it is important to know that there is no one size fits all. Some of the products that I will suggest may not work best for your skin. But may work perfectly for others. In this blog post I will discuss how to treat Acne.
The products that I will suggest are the ones that have worked best for my skin or that I highly recommend. The skin care routine that I follow is cleanser, serum, moisturiser, and sunscreen. I have found that the most necessary parts of my skin care routine is investing in a good cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen. Okay, so let us look at how to treat acne.
Step 1: Let us get into the Cleansers.
1. La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Cleansing Gel 400ml
The La Roche Posay cleanser is a good foaming gel facial wash specifically for oily and blemish prone skin. This cleanser is good as it removes dirt and proven to reduce appearance of spots and blackheads. If you have dry skin, I will not recommend this product as it as potential to dry it more.
2. Cerve Hydrating Cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid for Normal to Dry Skin 238ML
The Cerve hydrating cleanser is a good cleanser and also very affordable. The cleanser is great for people with normal to dry skin. The product promises to rescue the skin from dehydration. It is also great for protection with help of barrier boosting benefits.
Step 2: SERUM
1. Niacinamide
Niacinamide can help build proteins in the skin and lock in moisture to prevent environmental damage. This also reduces inflammation which may help ease redness from acne, eczema, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
2. Good Molecules: DISCOLORATION CORRECTING SERUM
This is a good serum which I used to help clear my acne scars. This serum helps to improve the appearance of skin discoloration and uneven skin tone. Other things that this serum helps with is the appearance of age spots, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and sun damage.
Step 3: Moisturiser
Moisturising is an essential and mandatory part of any skin care routine. A face moisturiser is a lotion, cream, or ointments. The kind of moisturiser that you need for your skin depends on your skin type, whether it is dry or oily. Moisturisers are good for our skin as they hydrate the surface layer of the skin. Another additional benefit is that they lock in moisture, nutrients and protect the skin from environmental issues
I have dry skin, and this is something that I have always had. Some days I have to moisturise my face twice or more times a day due to my skin getting dry. For this reason I always make sure to invest in good moisturisers.
1. Eucerin- UreaRepair Plus Lotion
So, this lotion is more on the expensive side, but it has definitely been the reason for my dry skin relief. The lotion gently exfoliates and smoothens the skin, with a promise of 48h dry skin relief. I have many creams and lotions to help heal my dry skin. But recently I have focused more on using this lotion, my skin looks more alive and when I wake up it is not dry.
Other Great Moisturisers
- Diprobase
- Cetraben Emollient Cream
- Aveeno Cream
Step 4: Sunscreen
Sunscreen is a very important part of your skin care routine. It might be cloudy and cold outside but you still need to apply sunscreen. It’s good practice to wear sunscreen in and out of season. This is especially a good idea if are using strong Retinols or exfoliate in winter. So make sure to apply sunscreen at list a minimum of SPF 15.
O’L Takeaway
Remember that when it comes to skin care it is important to make sure that you give yourself time. With some products it can take up to 2-3 months to start seeing results. These are some of my recommended and best products to use. Also important to note that some of these products may not be the best for your skin.
