1. Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiora (The Duomo).

The Duomo was built in the 15th century and was the largest church in the world at the time- now it is the 3rd biggest in Europe. There are many ways to explore the Church, which include climbing the top of the dome- all 463 steps. The steps are very narrow and can be challenging for some, however, if you can climb them you will not regret it.

If you are interested in exploring Renaissance art the Uffizi gallery is the place to be. There is an array of beautiful art to see that can last you hours to see and revel in. The architecture of the building is exceptional- and worth the visit.
3. Galleria dell ’Accademia

The birth of the gallery dates back to 1784 when the Grand Duke of Tuscany Pietro Leopoldo reorganized the Academy of the Arts of Drawing. The most famous piece of art in the museum is Michelangelo’s ‘David’ carved out of marble 500 years ago. It is a must-see!
4. Arno River

The Arno River is the second most important river in central Italy after the Tiber. It is the birthplace of Florence’s rich history of textile production. It is worth visiting- as a bonus, you can bike along the Arno for a fuller experience.
5. Piazzale Michaelangelo
The Piazzale Michelangelo is a great point (literally) for spectacular views. You can look over the city walls in the south, then Duomo, the Uffizi, Arnolfo and the Tower of the Palazzo Vecchio. Additionally, there is always a group of people waiting to see the sunset which makes it worth the visit.
6. Certaldo

For a stunning experience of Tuscany country life, you can take a trip to Certaldo. The city dates from Etruscan-Roman times, and it is the native home to Giovanni Boccaccio one of the greatest poets of Italian literature.

You cannot visit Florence and indulge in gelato ice cream. My best advice for delicious ice cream is to try the best place for you. There are many suggestions out there, but you honestly cannot go wrong with many of the places there.
