The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The natural beauty of this area has always attracted nature lovers like myself, and here is Plitvice Lakes worth visiting.

On my first visit to Zadar in Croatia, I had two priorities in mind, firstly, talk about Luka Modric to every Croatian and secondly visit the Plitvice National Park. I can attest to the fact that I managed to do both these things. But I’m here to talk about the wonder, which is Plitvice Lakes, and why it is most definitely worth visiting.
How to get there?
Driving
The park is easily accessible by road, and there are plenty of parking spaces available. The park has two entrances. You can access it from the main highway E71 (also known as the Zagreb-Split highway) by taking the exit for Plitvice Lakes.

Guided Tours
However, if you do not drive, no need to worry. You can book a tour to Plitvice Lakes with Get Your Guide. We paid £64 each for a 9 hour tour to see the stunning waterfalls and waterways of Plitvice Lakes. The tour was amazing from start to finish, and worth every penny. Our tour guide was exceptional and was one of the reasons why the trip was worth it. I cannot recommend them enough.
Bus
There are regular bus services from major cities in Croatia, including Zagreb, Split, and Zadar, to Plitvice National Park. Make sure to check schedules and buy tickets online or at the bus stations. The bus stops at both the lower and upper park entrances.

The park has many waterfalls, both small and large, with the famous ones being the Veliki Slap (Big Waterfall) and Sastavci Waterfall.
Caves
There are a few caves in the park, the most famous of which is the Supljara Cave, which you can reach with short hike from the P3 parking lot.
Boat rides
The lakes are interconnected so you can take a boat ride between the upper and lower lakes. This is a fun and relaxing way to see the park from a different perspective.
