Are you looking for stunning landscapes, with mountainous views that come with amazing hiking trails? Look no further, here, is my review after visiting the Bavarian Alps in Germany and Chamonix Mont Blanc in France.
Annecy and Chamonix, France

One of the most famous ski destinations in the European Alps, Chamonix sits at the base of the iconic Mont Blanc, near where the borders of France, Italy, and Switzerland meet.
Getting to Chamonix
The easiest way to get to Chamonix is to fly to Geneva International Airport in Switzerland. From there, it’s just a 100 km (62 mi) drive to Chamonix. From Geneva to Chamonix (where you may be staying), make sure to book your train or bus ticket in advance.
We made the mistake of booking our bus from the airport last minute and it cost us a lot of money. Alternatively, if you are able to drive to Chamonix, make sure to do so. If you can drive, this will give you to freedom to see different views without restrictions of public transport.
Where to Stay in Chamonix

There are many beautiful places to stay in Chamonix, France. It is easy to get to most places, from the city centre to the mountain tops. So, the location that you choose does not matter entirely.
My top tip is that you book your accommodation at a place with a wonderful view of the mountains 🏔️
Famous things to do
Aiguille du Midi

Aiguille du Midi is a mountain peak in the Mont Blanc massif and one of the most famous attractions in Chamonix. It’s the highest peak accessible by cable car and the closest you can get to Mont Blanc without actually climbing it.
Hike Trails

The Chamonix valley is home to some amazingly striking hiking trails and the one leading to Lac Blanc (the White Lake) may just be the best one of them.
As you make your way up to lac Blanc you will be absolutely stunned by the views. I caught myself saying ‘is this even real’ so many times.

BAVARIAN ALPS: Berchtesgaden National Park

Nestled in the Bavarian Alps, Berchtesgaden National Park is one of Germany’s most stunning natural wonders. Berchtesgaden is known for its dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear lakes, and enchanting forests. UNESCO Biosphere Reserve is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, photographers, and anyone looking to escape into nature.

The park is home to Lake Königssee which is located in the middle of the park. Königssee is the crown jewel of Berchtesgaden National Park. This emerald-green lake, surrounded by steep cliffs, is often compared to a fjord. Take a serene electric boat tour to the iconic St. Bartholomew’s Church, a picturesque chapel nestled on the lake’s shore. For panoramic views, hike to the Malerwinkel viewpoint.
How to Get to Berchtesgaden National Park
The park is located in southeastern Bavaria, near the Austrian border. I travelled from Salzburg which was a journey a little more than an hour by BUS. By, car, it will take you 30 minutes to get there.
If you are travelling by BUS, you can take the 840 to Berchtesgaden. It was a straight journey which took 1.5 hours. The bus stop I got the bus from is opposite Panorama terminal kiosk. You can also get the train, but, for me the bus was better because you will get the opportunity to see beautiful views of Austria/ Bavaria.
Where to stay
There are many places to stay to in Berchtesgaden National Park:
- Salzbergalm Berchtesgaden
- The Sleeping Goat (Guesthouse) and The Laughing Goat (Pub)
- Bergwald
