Most people assume they only need clothes, passport, towels and other basic holiday bits when they are going away. However, if you are planning on going for a long-time, or perhaps you just want to be a bit more organised, then there are several items I think you need for your next adventure. These items can be re-used so in my opinion, they are an investment. Here are, in my opinion, the top 10 travel essentials you need for your next adventure.

1) Packing cubes
You may have already heard of packing cubes as they have become quite popular in recent years. This is an item that can be used for both short and long term trips. They allow you to fit and organise all of your clothes and items in small cubes. This makes it easier to locate your things and makes it easier to fit things into your suitcase/bag.
2) Phone power bank charger
The type of power bank you purchase will depend on the phone you have. This to me is one of the most important things for you to bring. If you go on long day-trips and there are not places to charge your phone, then a power bank can save your life. In the digital day and age, we are always using our phones, whether this is for tickets, reservations or maps. The power bank will allow you to travel with a bit more ease.
3) Wire organiser
Not many people may think of this, or at least I didn’t until recently as I planned my big trip. I have multiple different items that require wires, such as my camera battery wire, my iphone charger, power bank charger, computer charger, plugs and others. I used to just roll up the wires in my carry on bag and pull them out when needed. This wire organiser allows you to put all of your needed wires in one small bag, allowing easy access, instead of losing the wires and getting them tangled up in your main bag.
4) Document holder
Similar to the wires, I used to just put my documents in small pockets. I often misplace things, especially if they are small or folded up. This is a great investment for me because I’m often forgetting where I put important things and then end up panicking. Now, if you are going on a small holiday, you may not think this is needed. Though, if you print out your boarding pass, hotel documents or any other things, this might be a good travel essential to purchase. If you need things like visas, vaccine records or any other important documents, then this is a great thing to have with you!
5) Waterproof phone case and bag
If you are planning to go anywhere near a beach or plan on doing some swimming, then this is a great item to bring with you. I think this is especially good if you are solo travelling because you can put your valuables in the bags and head into the sea. You may not be able to do a big swim, but you can at least dip your toes in without worrying about getting your phone wet. Alternatively, this can also be used for things like hikes. If you go hiking and it begins to rain, you won’t have to worry about your things getting overly wet.
6) Toiletry bag
If you want a bag where you put all of your toiletries that you are not taking on your carry on then look no further. This one is particularly good because it is a hanging one. This means you can hang it up in the showers if you have shared ones from hostels or guest houses.
7) Padlocks
Hopefully you will know that it is important to have a lock on your suitcase, but if not then you do now. If you are travelling, always put a padlock on your suitcase, even if it is a for a short trip. This also makes it easier to locate at the airport. In addition to this, if you happen to stay in a hostel, you might need an extra padlock for any lockers they provide.
8) Small mirror
This one isn’t necessarily the most important thing on the list, however, I do think it is a useful item to pack. A lot of people use their phone camera to look at themselves/ check things, but that can make your phone run out of charge. Bringing a small mirror is just a handy little thing to have on you, just in case!
9) Travel Wash
Travel wash may not be something you have thought of, but it is a great handy item to pack. This is especially true if you are going away for a longer period. Even if you’re not going for long, but do not want to pack much, it means you can re-use your clothes. It is a great item to bring along on your trip.
10) Phone holder
This is not just any phone holder, it is one that can be placed anywhere you like. Okay, maybe not anywhere, but you can use it on the plane, in hotels and anywhere else with a side to attach it to. It’s a great little thing to use when you have your hands full or want to watch a show.
Final comments
So there you have it. My top 10 travel essentials you need for your next adventure. I know a few of these may not seem like things you need, but they are mainly on the list just to make your life a little bit more organised. Happy travelling!
