To get to Hallstatt you will need to travel to Salzburg in Austria. You can fly from Salzburg Airport (SZG) ✈️ or get the Train.
From Salzburg, you will need to get the train or bus to get to Hallstatt (2-3hours). The best way to get there would be to drive if you have an access to a car, as it would be quicker. However, the bus or train will suffice as your mode of transportation to get to Hallstatt.

On top of indulging in beautiful scenery and sights. There are many things to do in Hallstatt, so don’t worry you won’t be bored.
1. Boat Trip Around Lake Hallstatt
This boat trip gives you the opportunity to see picturesque sights, while enjoying a peaceful boat ride.
2. Hallstatt Skywalk
The Hallstatt Skywalk is the world heritage skywalk which offers some of the best views of Hallstatt. This platform sits 350m high, and to get there you would need to get the funicular (€22) or hike (which takes around an hour).
3. Markplatz
Old towns are absolutely my top priority whenever I travel. So, one of the best things to do in Hallstatt is visit the old town. This will give you an opportunity to see colourful streets and houses that are out of this world.
The old town will make you feel like you’re in a fairytale town. For some shopping, the markplatz is the best place to get delicious ice-cream and souvenirs.
4. Salt Mines
The Salt mines in Hallstatt are one of the oldest in the world. There are tours that you can go on to help you learn and see the salt mines which I highly recommend that you book. Just remember, that during winter the salt mines are usually closed, so check before you book your trip.
5. Nature and Alpine Hiking
To get a great sense of Hallstatt in all its glory, the best thing to do is go for a hike. You will get the chance to see clear water lakes filled with swans, mountain peaks, and Austrian Meadows. Being in nature is just an unmatched feeling, so I can’t recommend a nature and alpine hiking enough.
