Why is everyone travelling all of a sudden? That is a good question. If you’re on social media, your ‘for you’ page may be filled with lots of travel videos and pictures. You may also see it all over Instagram, Reddit, Facebook and other platforms. Due to this, it may seem like everyone you know is always on a trip. As someone who is known for ‘always travelling’ I’m here to tell you a few secrets. People are not always ‘travelling’ as much as it may seem. There are lots of reasons behind this that I will share with you.
Social media
Now if you are getting this information from social media, you should probably take into account that social media is not real. If you are seeing ‘influencers’ or friends post about their travels, you should know that a lot of people often post after they’ve come back. I know people who post months after their trips. This makes it look like they are still away. Some people also re-use videos for reels and TikTok’s too. This again makes it seem like they are always away. Furthermore, before social media people were still travelling. However, it is likely that you were not seeing or hearing about strangers travelling because why would you? With access to social media, you are likely seeing peoples travels who you do not even know. This may make it seem like more and more people are travelling than before.
Accessibility
Travelling is probably easier than ever. You are able to travel via train, plane, car etc. As travelling has become a lot more popular, more companies also provide deals for customers. You are able to go online and find 100000s of recommendations on how to travel, where to travel and destinations you can go to. This makes travelling a lot easier. For example, if you head onto https://www.thetrainline.com/en-us/trains/europe you can find some great deals travelling around Europe by train. This is an especially good idea if you are afraid of flying.
Affordable
As previously mentioned, people have different ideas of what travelling is. Some people are okay with ‘cheap’ holidays. For example, staying in hostels. Some people are also willing to do shorter weekend trips, rather than the typical week long holidays in the summer. This may also be another way that people are travelling a lot because they are doing shorter stays in cheaper accommodations. In addition to this, a lot of companies now provide ‘travel points’. For example, if you often travel with British Airways and have an account with them, you can gain points which can save you money on flights.
Remember
I know it may seem like most people are travelling, but what you may see and hear about is not always a true reflection on reality. Even if lots of people are travelling now, is that really a bad thing? It means more people are experiencing new cultures, new foods and learning a new way of life which can be beautiful.
