Is Zadar in Croatia worth visiting? Well, the simple answer is yes. In this post, I will detail all the reasons why you need to visit Zadar in Croatia, including things to do, places to stay, and more.
Zadar is one of the most exquisite places on the Adriatic. It was the Romans who conquered it first, followed by the Venetians, and the influence of both empires dominate the city’s architectural structure.
The city is defined by its many memorable sights, and city sunsets that are strikingly beautiful. Other sights to enjoy include its mix of cliffs, coves, and Roman streets that you just have to see.
Two-Night Itinerary: Zadar
Accommodation Details
The first day we arrived in Zadar we checked in our stay called ‘Lily Apartment’ booked via Booking.com. The Couple who own this place were very kind and accommodating. The apartment is big enough for 3-4 people, with one double bed and a sofa bed. There is a beautiful balcony, bathroom and other amnesties to make your stay worth while.
A positive about this location is that it is near LIDL food shop. So, if you are on a low budget this location is a win for you.
A negative concerning the location of the apartment is that it is far away from Old Town and the Kolovare Beach (about 30 to 1 hour walk). We mainly used Ubers to get around, which were €3-4 to the main locations.
Day 1
We went to Zadar in Croatia for two nights. Each day mattered, so on the first day we went to Kolovare Beach. The weather was beautiful and sunny, so going for a swim was a must. The beach was very pleasant, with clear waters, and restaurants. We definitely enjoyed our time there.
Evening
For our evening escapades we went to eat at ‘Garden Lounge’, one of the most spectacular restaurants I’ve ever been too. The food was delicious and affordable. Honestly, I would go back to Zadar just for that restaurant.
Day 2
On Day 2, we had pre-booked tickets for a tour to Piltvice Lakes with Get Your Guide. We paid £64 each for a 9 hour tour to see the stunning waterfalls and waterways of Plitvice Lakes. The tour was amazing from start to finish, and worth every penny.
The Plitvice Lakes Park – is one of Europe’s natural wonders. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is absolutely worth visiting.
I don’t think I have the words to describe this place magical place. From the enchanted forests, to magical blue lakes, and a rich history of the national park. Every detail of this park is enthralling, and will make you fall in love with nature again. I can’t recommend it enough.
Evening : Sea Organ
When we came back from the tour, we went to see the sunset at the Sea Organ. The Sea Organ is an architectural sound art object located in Zadar. It is an experimental musical instrument which plays music by the sea waves and tubes underneath a set of large steps.
You have to visit the Sea Organ, especially when the sun setting. That way, you can capture beautiful photographs.
Day 3: VISIT OLD TOWN
You can’t visit Zadar without going to Old Town. This is the home to historic Roman ruins, medieval churches, and charming squares. Old town, is known for its well-preserved ruins, and proximity to nearby nature attraction.
O’L Final Thoughts
